August 2, 2022
Passion is what many people can relate with, be it passion for change, passion to be a star, passion to help others etc. Many however will attest to the fact that the consistency and the sacrifice it takes to run with your passion and achieve your earnest desire is something that is not easy especially with the various obstacles lace the road to an impactful life. When a man whether through such obstacles, he/she becomes rewarded with the accolades of men and the satisfaction of seeing his/her efforts contribute to positive change.
Such is the case of Joseph Osuigwe, a young man whose passion to help in achieving a world free of human trafficking and gender-based violence led him to painstakingly pioneer a movement that stimulate Young Persons to “TALKAM” (Speak Up) against human rights abuses.
From a Youth Corper who was dissatisfied with the prevalent issue of human rights abuses especially of young people who become victims of sexual exploitation, human trafficking and GBV, he founded a non for profit organization, Devatop Center for Africa Development, that is committed to combating these menace. Recognizing the need for technology to be engaged as a vital tool in the fight against human rights abuses, he initiated the TALKAM App, a reporting application where people can report human trafficking and gender-based violence from anywhere on the globe.
His efforts have been recognized by National and International organizations and have received many mentions in the discourse of the fight against human trafficking and gender-based violence in Nigeria and beyond.
On the 30th of July 2022, Jospeh Osuigwe received an award as an anti-GBV ambassador from Jose Foundation United Kingdom.
